Edward, one next-door guy, was born in Riga, Latvia on August 10th, 1887. He fell in love with 10 years younger than him and decided to marry. But tragedy of love, his girlfriend, Agnes, canceled the wedding just one day before the ceremony. Heartbroken Ed labored almost 25 years to build a coral rock monument to Agnes, which is known as Coral Castle today.

This entire coral castle was built by one man, yes he moved tons of coral rock by himself and used hand tools to carve and create the monuments. Ed achieved all these by himself without asking for any help. Ed did much of his work at night by lantern light and to help protect his privacy, he built numerous lookouts along the Castle walls. Whenever someone asked him a question that “how he moved corals?” – Ed always replied that “he understood the laws of weight and leverage well”.

The Coral Castle offers audio tour which explains the different specialty of the monuments. For example, one coral made into Sun Dial recording current time. That’s amazing accuracy. You would be amazed with Throne room, bedroom, children’s playground, the tower and living quarters. In addition to that Florida Table is worth watching where he envisioned politician making plans.

If you are looking proving the lost love then you might want to go visit the Coral Castle. It is truly a symbol of love carved and expressed through sea corals.

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens was built by a famous artist Frederic Clay Bartlett during 1921. Bonnet House is recognized as a complete home of and studio of a famous American artist. This artistic house is open to the public – local as well as Miami vacationers. Creativity of Bartlett family turned Bonnet House into unique Museum. House offers variety of displays such as Murals on the ceilings, balustrades, faux marble and sculptures. Floor and walls show the creativity using faux marble. Among all sculptures, fish sculptures are noticeable. Bartlett family’s antique collection portraying antique china to carousel animals shows the art of the 20th century. Bonnet House Museum & Garden is located on the beachfront covering 35 acres of sub-tropical land. Considering the tropical fact, Bonnet House Museum & Garden has become the home of squirrel monkeys, swans and many other tropical animals. I would say, house offers the art and creativity of the Bartlett which can be explored and felt today.

Miami Metrozoo has become the center of attraction in nation. Miami is known for tropical weather. Tropical weather welcomes different kind of animals and creatures from all around the world especially from Australia, Asia and Africa. Miami Metrozoo is known for natural preserve. When I say natural preserve means animals are living together in group based on their geographical characteristics and behavior. Surrounding area for the animals are created as same as native habitat of particular group of animals. Saying that, you are guaranteed to watch animals in their natural behavior and doing activities like they really do in forests. You and your family will be able to see animal babies including rhino, white tigers, crocodiles, Komodo dragon, lions, regular tigers, bears, elephant, giraffe and what not at Miami Metrozoo. Current update says that around 100 new species from Amazon jungles at the zoo.

Apart from just watching animals from the distance, you can also get closer to them as well. Giraffe Feeding Station has become popular these days. For very minimal fee you will be able to feed Samburu Giraffe with your hand at Miami Metrozoo.

American Bankers Family Aviary, Wings of Asia is also fabulous attraction of the zoo. Hundreds of rare bird species are kept in open-air aviary. It is recognized as the largest open-air aviary in United States of America. Main purpose of this aviary is to focus the understanding of similarity and relationship among today’s bird and dinosaurs. The Field Research Center allows tourists to experience the touch and view of real casts of the dinosaurs. Also, exhibits are planted mostly with Asian plants and vegetation to give the real environment feelings to birds. You can enjoy watching aquatic birds swimming and diving into water for food, bath and water play from Potemkin Conservation Center.

Amazon & Beyond Exhibit has opened up at the zoo lately. Exhibit is focusing on Central and South American animals and creatures. It contains around 600 animals from the Amazon jungle in 27 acres of area. Out of 600 animals, 100 animals are the most attractive species of the exhibits. You will be having great time with your family watching these animals in rainforest. Your family will love the sounds and color of Central & South American forests at Miami Metrozoo. Amazon & Beyond Exhibit has three sections. They are known as: the Cloud Forest, Amazon Forest and Atlantic Forest. You will be glad to visit these sections to watch animals such as anaconda, jaguars, harpy eagles and many more creatures at Miami Metrozoo.

Zoo also offers guided tours known as : Behind-the-Scenes Keeper Tours, Guided Walking tours, Pineland walking tours and Guided Segway tours. In Behind-the-Scene Keeper tours, you will get an opportunity to watch animals in off-exhibit areas. Zookeeper will always be there to guide you. It is almost one and one-half hour tour visit. You can choose the type of animals you want to cover as part of the tour. Currently offered itineraries include animal sections such as birds, mammals or general. If you are tired of walking around then you might want to consider taking Guided Segway tours at Miami Metrozoo.

Zoo is covering almost 740 acres of area. Out of 740 acres area, almost 300 acres of area is occupied by animal exhibits. Be ready to walk as you will be visiting 300 acres of animal exhibits. You can rent bicycle if you want for minimal charges at the zoo gate. Keep in mind that being the easy way of moving around on bicycle, it has been popular for zoo tours and because of that during weekends it is tough to get bicycle on rent. As we know that tropical weather is known for sunshine, so even if you are visiting during summer vacation nothing to worry. Zoo has plenty of natural tree shades and rest area along the pathways. Children can also play along fountains and play area at Miami Metrozoo.

Saying all those goodies, it proves Miami Metrozoo as a great place to visit. Whether you are visiting alone or with your kids, I can guarantee that you will need one full day to visit the zoo.
